Just moments from Hampstead Heath, this Victorian home proves that honouring a building's history doesn't mean living in the past.
Carefully restored and updated, the North London residence pairs period architecture with a restrained contemporary palette, creating interiors that feel warm, timeless, and effortlessly liveable.
The home's original character remains firmly intact. An elegant Art Nouveau entrance door offers a graceful introduction, setting the tone before making way for calm, modern interiors where clean lines and natural materials take centre stage.
Instead of competing with the home's historic bones, each intervention feels considered, allowing old and new to exist in harmony.
At the heart of the home is the kitchen, where richly streaked Quartzite Cielo is paired with warm Sunrise Oak cabinetry. The combination introduces texture and depth, while establishing a neutral palette that flows throughout the house.
Layered finishes, tactile surfaces and soft, muted tones create spaces that feel equally suited to everyday family life and entertainment.
The living areas continue the understated approach, favouring generous proportions, sculptural silhouettes, and a carefully edited selection of furniture.
Soft upholstery, refined timber detailing, and subtle accents contribute to an atmosphere that is inviting without excess. Throughout the home, natural light enhances the restrained material palette, bringing warmth to every room and reinforcing the sense of quiet sophistication.
Designed by Lawson Ward Studio, the project demonstrates how contemporary design can enrich a heritage property, rather than overshadow it.
This results in a home that celebrates craftsmanship, embraces simplicity, and offers a masterclass in modern living within a classic Victorian shell.
