In a private residence nestled among the expansive landscapes of Jackson, Wyoming, luxury kitchen specialist Officine Gullo has collaborated with acclaimed American interior design studio WRJ Design to create a culinary space that is equal parts professional workspace, gathering place and design statement. The result is a home that balances the rugged beauty of the American West with the precision and refinement of Italian craftsmanship.

Designed by WRJ Design founders Rush Jenkins and Klaus Baer, the residence embraces a philosophy of understated luxury. While the interiors are sophisticated, they remain deeply rooted in the realities of family life, conceived as a welcoming retreat for multiple generations, guests and beloved pets alike.

A custom Officine Gullo wood-fired oven introduces both professional-grade functionality and sculptural presence to the kitchen's material-rich interior.

A Luxury Kitchen at the Heart of the Home

For the homeowners, the kitchen was always going to be the most important room in the house. Developed in close collaboration with the wife, an accomplished cook with a longstanding connection to Italy, the space was envisioned as a highly functional environment capable of professional-level performance without sacrificing warmth or beauty. It is a brief that naturally led the team to Officine Gullo.

Positioned between two islands, the bespoke wood-fired oven forms a striking focal point, balancing craftsmanship, performance and everyday usability.

Known for producing handcrafted kitchens that combine Florentine artisanal traditions with modern engineering, the company designed a fully customised culinary environment tailored specifically to the family's needs.

The space also incorporates a solid timber butcher's block, a wood-fired pizza oven, integrated refrigeration, steam and multifunction ovens, wine storage, and custom brass fittings throughout. Every element has been carefully considered to create a seamless relationship between performance and aesthetics.

Handcrafted cabinetry, integrated appliances and brass detailing showcase Officine Gullo's commitment to combining Florentine craftsmanship with contemporary functionality.

Italian Craftsmanship Meets Mountain Living

While Officine Gullo's roots are firmly Italian, the kitchen feels entirely at home in Wyoming. Crafted from noble materials including brass and steel, the cabinetry and appliances introduce a richness that sits comfortably alongside the residence's natural palette of timber, stone and expansive views. Warm metallic finishes catch the changing mountain light, creating subtle moments of reflection and depth throughout the day.

The dialogue between architecture and landscape is central to the success of the project. Rather than competing with the dramatic surroundings, the interiors respond to them. Large windows frame views of the mountains beyond, while natural materials and muted tones establish a sense of calm that feels distinctly connected to place.

"It's a Zen space, an incredible sanctuary of peace and calm," says Rush Jenkins.

Expansive glazing draws the mountain landscape into the kitchen, reinforcing the connection between the home's interiors and its dramatic setting.

A Shared Commitment to Craftsmanship

This collaboration feels particularly natural because both brands share a similar design philosophy. For WRJ Design, interiors are about creating spaces that feel deeply personal while remaining highly functional. Their projects often combine contemporary furnishings with historically informed details, layered textures and bespoke craftsmanship.

A professional-grade Officine Gullo range anchors the cooking zone, combining precision engineering with timeless materials and artisanal detailing.

That approach aligns closely with Officine Gullo's commitment to creating kitchens that honour traditional manufacturing techniques while embracing modern technology and performance.

As Klaus Baer explains, the partnership was rooted in a shared appreciation for artistry and usability; two qualities that define the finished project. The result is a kitchen that performs at the highest level while retaining the warmth and character expected of a family home.

Solid brass taps and a handcrafted metal sink bring warmth and character to the marble-topped island, highlighting the project's attention to detail.

Designing for the Way We Live Today

Luxury kitchens have evolved dramatically over the past decade. No longer hidden away as purely functional spaces, they have become social destinations where cooking, entertaining and everyday life intersect. This Wyoming residence embodies that shift perfectly.

Here, the kitchen is not merely a place to prepare meals but a room designed to bring people together. It accommodates everything from quiet mornings and family gatherings to celebrations with friends, all while delivering the performance expected from professional-grade equipment.

It is this balance — between beauty and utility, sophistication and comfort — that makes the project so compelling.
