Spring has sprung, we’re ready to see blooms and get some serious inspiration for outdoor plants. From garden tours to just breathing some fresh air, where better to go than our gorgeous national parks? South Africa is known for our wonderful biodiversity and regularly ranks in the top 10 for the delightful fauna and flora we have on offer. It’s no secret that many local and international visitors travel from far and wide to see it first hand. Well, look no further as most of our 19 national parks are going to be free to enter with Free Access Week running from 12 - 16 September.

Plan your week accordingly and make the trip to places that have been on your bucket list to visit this year. According to the official site, the campaign allows locals with valid identity documents an opportunity to spend a day at a national park of their choice, free of charge. Think spending a day on the lush Garden Route, Kruger National Park and many others.

The annual event is run under the theme Know Your National Park and aims to help more people if you’re not able to attend - it might be time to get a membership so you can explore on your own time. Or remember to pencil it in for next year!

From day visits, trail walks to spending a night or two under the stars, there’s something for everyone.

You can visit the official website to see who is participating, where you can book and what the rates are.
