Ever heard of umami? It is a pleasant savoury taste that is regarded as the 5th basic taste after sweet, sour, salty and bitter. Foods with umami flavour, (according to pundits and good old research) are super satisfying to the palate and help to keep you satiated. And they blend beautifully with Grande Provence wines.

The Bistro at the Grand Provence is offering Umami tastings daily for just R95. The Umami wine tasting pairs delectable savoury morsels with three fruity and vibrant wines; the Grande Provence Sauvignon Blanc; the Grande Provence Shiraz, and the Angels Tears Muscato Chenin Blanc, which adds a sweet sensation to the mix with upfront notes of honey infused with spices and tropical flavours. A whole flavour fest.

You can also try out the new range of Grande Provence olive oil and balsamic syrups, while at it. The wines pair perfectly with tangy cheese and lime balsamic syrup, balsamic and olive oil, as well as gourmet caramel popcorn. Freshly made dukkah, a flavourful Middle Eastern spice and nut mixture promises to take the umami pairing to new heights when added to the olive oil and balsamic syrup.

The Umami tasting is available daily from 11:00 am till 18:00 at R95 per pairing at The Bistro at Grande Provence.
