1. Groomed to the nines

Bath time might be your pet’s least favourite activity in the world, but a big part of caring for our furry friend is making sure they stay healthy and clean. If your pet hasn’t had a proper wash in a while, consider taking them to a groomer, or go DIY at home in the tub. Make sure to properly scrub and rinse them, followed by a towel dry and a good brush. If you have the kind of pet that’s a pro at self-cleaning, there are still ways you can pamper them. Brushing is always the best, followed by ear cleaning and lots of belly rubs!

2. Treats, glorious treats

It goes without saying that treats may just be a pet’s favourite thing in the whole world. Make sure to spoil your fur baby with something extra special, whether it’s that expensive wet food they like, a bone they can chew on for hours, or simply getting their meal a little earlier than usual.

3. Socialising with others

If your pet loves being social with other pets, take them to a local park where they can interact with other animals. Having a play date (or even just going for a walk) can greatly improve your pet’s mood and behaviour. Besides, who doesn’t love a little hangout with their buddies?

4. Playtime

Play time is right up there with treats on a pet’s list of greatest things ever, and there are so many ways to initiate play with your pets. Take them to the pet store to pick out a new toy: play fetch in the park or garden with your pooch; grab the light laser to entertain your feline friend; or dig out a cupboard box for your cat to play in. Play is not only fun, but it’s important for your pet’s health and growth. Our domesticated animals have learnt to become more social, so it’s only fair that we give them the time and energy that they deserve.

5. Donate with love

Although this may not directly impact your pet, one of the best ways to show love to your animal (and all animals) is to donate to a local shelter or charity that seeks to save, care for and uplift animals. This can be any one of your choosing - maybe even the very shelter you got your fur baby from. if you don’t want to send in cash, consider donating pet food, blankets, toys and treats. Or why not pop in for a visit and spend some time with the animals there - they will love you for it.
