OKHA, a Cape Town-based design studio, has released a collection of abstract, geometric rugs influenced by traditional African tribal arts.

THE STONE COLLECTION features six different designs in six different colourways, and is woven using a blended twine of bamboo silk and Himalayan wool.

The rugs are a contemporary take on Africa’s creative heritage that is evident in many genres of the continent’s artistic expression; sculpture, carving, beadwork, body adornment.

Geometric forms are intrinsic to African Tribal Art, the presence of simple, vector forms dates backs centuries.

The Stone Collection represents origins, the beginning of things, from which other elements are sculpted and borne. Out of these simple, geometric forms all things can spring.
