Neutral Interest

The main bedroom in this classic Paul van den Berg and Boyd Ferguson of Cécile & Boyd-designed home in Joburg demonstrates the scope texture can offer within a limited palette – silk, sheepskin, jute, crushed eggshell (on the walls) offer layers of interest.

Elegant Farmhouse

A neutral palette and elegantly aged antiques give antique dealer Ashley Judge’s city farmhouse a polished pastoral personality. The master bedroom is a fine balance of elegant details and simple finishes – plain tab-top curtains and white bed linen are made more luxe by a fur throw and crystal lamp bases.

Seaside Bliss

Sandy blonde and white tones make up the restful palette in the master bedroom of this Michelle Throssell-designed holiday home. Here, knitted textures and a Ronel Jordan felt throw are a tactile foil for the clean lines of the Weylandts four-poster frame.

Pared-Back Polish

Although scaled back in size, Susan and Christopher Greig haven’t compromised on style in their cosy Joburg apartment, which combines period elegance and personal charm. The bedroom’s muted green and gold tones offer a luxurious but restful retreat.

Gallery Viewing

In the master bedroom of this bachelor pad, George Nelson lampshades frame Zombie Babylon 17, a work by Conrad Botes. Throughout the home, large-scale artworks and carefully curated custom-designed furniture turn the space into an exhibition space.
