The design authority for décor, interior design, and lifestyle industries was among winners at AAXO Roar Awards which were held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Johannesburg recently.
The annual awards are administered by the Association of African Exhibition Organisers (AAXO) in collaboration with EXSA under the Exhibition Industry Alliance (EIA) banner.
ROAR stand for Respect, Opportunities, Achievements, and Recognition and according to AAXO the “awards are aimed at acknowledging and recognising excellence in exhibition organisation.”
To stand out in this cluttered terrain does require excellence - both in terms of vision and execution and an ongoing commitment to both.
It was for this reason that Decorex Africa, its national events and exhibitors, excelled at the recent AAXO Roar Awards.
Entries were judged on their successful exhibition strategy incorporating marketing, public relations, operations, and activation.
Decorex Africa and its associated exhibitors have been recognised a total of eight times at the awards, including winning Best Overall Stand.
SmartBuild, a Division of Reed Exhibitions (the organisers of Decorex Africa), won the Best Stand Overall for the Caesarstone stand built at Decorex Joburg, after having garnered this accolade in 2019.

- Decorex Joburg received a Distinction in Marketing
- Decorex Joburg won best overall Trade & Consumer show over 12 000 sqm
- Xperience Luxury received an exhibitor distinction for their stand at Decorex Joburg
- Task Interiors received exhibitor distinction for their stand at Decorex Joburg
In addition to the seven accolades received for the Decorex shows, the Decorex Africa portfolio also received a Distinction in Social Media for 100% Design South Africa, the country’s leading product design showcase.
Sian Cullingworth, Portfolio Director of the lifestyle, design and retail exhibitions has in a few short years, grown the portfolio’s offering and proved a force in the events industry.
With her extensive experience in marketing, communications strategy and business development, she guides the direction of the show, continually elevating the offering year on year.
She also enjoys coming up with fresh ideas and working closely with Creative Director, Anita Bloom, to brainstorm how they will bring the event to life.
