Some holiday homes are designed for a destination. Others seem to emerge from it.
In Naples, Florida, where the Gulf breeze drifts through palm-lined streets and the ocean lies just beyond the neighbourhood's avenues, a remarkable residence by Jeffrey Fisher Home blurs the line between architecture, landscape, and interior design. Situated between the enclaves of Aqualane Shores and Port Royal, the property embraces the effortless glamour of coastal living – while delivering a masterclass in texture, craftsmanship, and restraint.
From the moment you enter, it is clear that this is a home designed not simply to be admired, but to be inhabited. Every room feels connected to the landscape beyond its walls, with colours, materials, and natural light working together to create an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and relaxing.
"My inspiration for this project started with the architecture," says interior designer Jeffrey Fisher. "The architect, Falconer Jones, and I have worked on previous projects together here in Naples, and I appreciate his sense of scale and proportion. When an architect provides a strong architectural foundation, the details generated from my studio all fall into place easily."
Drawing the Landscape Indoors
The palette is a direct response to the surrounding environment. Sandy neutrals anchor the interiors, while shades of blue, lavender and green subtly weave through the home, echoing the ever-changing colours of the coast.
"The connecting background throughout the home is neutral," explains Fisher, "but as you move into each space you find a connection to the outdoors through the introduction of colour representing all the tones one sees in nature."
This approach prevents the home from slipping into predictable coastal clichés. Instead of explicit oceanic references, colour is introduced with confidence and precision, creating moments of surprise while maintaining a sense of cohesion around the home.
Linen sheers soften the strong Florida sunlight, allowing rooms to glow throughout the day. In spaces such as the pool bath, shellstone flooring and custom shellstone panelling subtly reference the nearby shoreline, grounding the interiors in their seaside location.
The Marble That Set the Tone
Every exceptional home has a defining moment, and here it begins in the kitchen.
"The Violetta marble used in the kitchen, along with the kitchen design itself, defined the entire design direction of the project for me," says Fisher. "The marble was one of the first materials selected and every subsequent decision had to live up to that level of elegance and design."
The dramatic stone immediately establishes a sense of luxury, while twin islands mounted on copper-clad bases introduce warmth and sculptural presence. Blonde oak cabinetry is framed by walnut-stained tambour walls, creating depth and contrast without overwhelming the room's architectural lines.
Thoughtful detailing elevates the everyday living in this home. Glass-fronted cabinets flanking the cooktop can be accessed from both the kitchen and the back pantry, combining practicality with visual elegance.
A Celebration of Texture
Perhaps the most compelling aspect of the home is its fearless use of texture.
Rather than relying on colour alone, Fisher layers surfaces, fabrics, and finishes to create interiors that reveal themselves slowly. Nowhere is this more evident than in the study, where pattern and materiality take centre stage.
"The ceiling, chandelier, chest, sectional, leather ottoman and rug all bring an incredible amount of texture to this room," he explains. "The wallpaper, artwork, window treatments, upholstery patterns and decorative pillows all add another layer."
The result is richly dimensional, yet remarkably harmonious, proving that maximal texture can coexist with a calming atmosphere.
The powder room offers another lesson in sophisticated layering. Black-and-white floor tiles have been manipulated to create a dynamic geometric pattern, while textured wallcoverings, metallic finishes, stone surfaces, and carefully selected lighting create a jewel-box like experience.
"We manipulated each quarter-circle tile so that two laying side by side created a half circle," says Fisher. "Then we changed the direction of those half circles throughout the installation."
It is the sort of detail that many guests might not immediately notice, but one that contributes to the room's character.
Art for Art's Sake
In an age where artwork is often expected to reinforce a colour scheme or design concept, Fisher took a different approach.
The foyer features a vibrant work by artist Juan Carlos Collada, introducing a burst of colour that appears nowhere else in the home.
"I appreciate the burst of colour as soon as you enter the home and the fact that these precise colours aren't repeated elsewhere," says Fisher. "Art for art's sake."
The statement feels refreshingly confident. Rather than serving the room, the artwork is allowed to stand independently, creating a memorable first impression.
Designed Around the Rhythm of Holiday Living
The home's generous outdoor spaces are every bit as considered as the interiors.
More than 120 square metres of outdoor living areas have been divided into distinct zones created for different moments throughout the day. There are spaces for morning coffee, afternoon sunbathing, casual card games, evening cocktails, and even long alfresco dinners.
An outdoor kitchen and bar ensure entertaining flows effortlessly between the indoors and the out, while a separate cabana suite at the far end of the pool has become the room most coveted by guests.
The primary suite embraces a similarly immersive relationship with nature. His-and-her showers are separated by a lush outdoor courtyard, complete with a fountain visible from both spaces, creating an experience that feels similar to a boutique resort than a private residence.
Classic Foundations, Contemporary Comfort
While the home embraces contemporary materials and craftsmanship, its furniture layouts remain rooted in classic design principles.
The living room centres around a timeless arrangement of opposing sofas, complemented by pairs of lounge chairs that encourage a sense of connection. Rich green velvet seating introduces colour and pattern, while heavily textured bouclé upholstery and embroidered accents bring a distinctly modern edge to the space.
The balance between old and new is deliberate. Familiar silhouettes create comfort and longevity, while layered materials ensure that the spaces feel current and expressive.
Built for Beauty and Resilience
Luxury along the Florida coast requires more than visual appeal. It must also withstand the realities of the environment.
The home has been constructed from concrete block, with a poured concrete staircase designed to endure hurricane conditions. Automated bug screens, hurricane shutters, and Andersen SmartSun glass further protect the property while enhancing comfort and energy efficiency.
These practical considerations are seamlessly integrated into the design, ensuring resilience never comes at the expense of beauty.
The Art of Coastal Sophistication
Spanning more than 700 square metres of interior living space across two levels, the residence took over two years to complete. Yet despite its scale, what remains most is not its size, but its atmosphere.
This is a home that understands the true luxury of coastal living. It is found not in overabundance, but in thoughtful details, natural materials, rooms that open effortlessly to the outdoors, and spaces designed around the simple pleasures of gathering, relaxing and reconnecting.
In a region known for grand waterfront estates, Jeffrey Fisher's Naples retreat stands apart for a different reason: it captures the essence of its surroundings with remarkable elegance, allowing the colours of the sea, sand, and sky to quietly shape every experience within.
