The Alphen Boutique Hotel and Spa, a Kove Collection hotel, has undergone an exciting transformation marrying the historical property with a brand-new modern appeal. With crisp new interiors and the addition of a boutique spa, heated pool and gym, the Alphen remains undeniably timeless, now with a luxurious contemporary feel.
Paul Kovensky, managing director of the Kove Collection says he’s incredibly proud of the work done to refresh the property, simultaneously taking the heritage of the buildings into account, whilst meeting the needs of the premium guest, both local and international.
Kovensky says that central to the upgrade was the addition of spa facilities boasting a range of treatments as well as a curated collection of wellness and skincare products. “Our new boutique spa has been developed with the ultimate self-care in mind. Spearheaded by highly-trained therapists, the spa is surrounded by beautiful lawns, a heated 15m pool and a fully-equipped gym, making it the ideal self-care destination.”
Whilst the property is a showpiece in the Kove Collection, it is also a much-loved institution in Cape Town. “We have families and individuals that have been frequenting our property for many years, whether it be the hotel, our restaurants - Blanko and La Belle, our bar, Incognito, or simply to take a stroll around our spectacular gardens,” says Kovensky. “We look forward to welcoming our past and new guests to experience our spa facilities and heated pool now too.
The Alphen’s signature restaurant, Blanko, has undergone its own update with a menu refresh and a shift to a more casual, comfortable atmosphere, taking inspiration from the surrounding neighbourhood of Constantia. The new menu offers everything from delectable seafood starters and mains to hearty pasta dishes, artisanal pizza and only the best cuts of meat.
The Alphen boasts eighteen suites, adorned with French panelling and marble, soft linen and fully-equipped bathrooms. The Dower House and Mill Range, as they’ve been fondly called for so many years, have both Classic, Superior and Deluxe suites.
“Essentially, we’ve taken the best from before and immersed it in something brand new. Whilst the interiors now boast a clean, monochrome style, what hasn’t changed is our signature five-star hospitality.
