For the 25th year in a row, the Design Indaba will be taking place at Cape Town’s prestigious Artscape Theatre between the 26th and the 28th of February 2020.

The three-day programme, built on the foundation that creativity drives progress and creates solutions, will yet again be serving a variety of innovative events that prompt people to think, act and at the same time, showcases the latest Emerging Creatives.

In order to increase accessibility to Design Indaba Conference and expose more potential creatives and game-changers to innovative, creative, out-of-the-box thinking, the Design Indaba offers a live broadcast of the main plenary session to various venues around Southern Africa.

This year, the Design Indaba Simulcast will be broadcast live to major cities around the country, that include Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Potchefstroom.  The must-see speakers for 2020 are:

Catlina Lotero

Designer of ‘Raiki’, which converts friction-generated energy from trees into electricity and may help to solve the global energy crisis.

Natsai Audrey Chieza

Designer of an eco-friendly pigment from bacteria that will revolutionise textile dying in the fashion industry, one of the biggest causes of pollution.

Studio Drift

Dutch artist duo Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta, devoted to bringing humankind back to nature with technology, evoking a sense of awe and wonder in the process.

Bas Timmer

A Dutch designer creating sheltersuits for the homeless and thanks to #DI2020 funding, will be distributing 100 sheltersuits to the homeless in Cape Town.

Tickets sales for the Design Indaba 2020 are officially open and are available through www.webtickets.co.za.
