These are the House & Garden SA’s picks of their favourite and most stylish bathrooms – from sleek and minimal to classic heritage.

Into the tropics

Bring bold colour and fresh energy into a space with perhaps one of the most unexpected but well-known bathroom decor ideas: tropical banana leaf wallpaper roused by the tropics. Inspired by the iconic Beverley Hills Hotel, add the original ‘Martinique’ wallcovering to your bathroom for total wall goals.

Marbled mahogany

Mix mahogany wood panelling with sleek, dark marbled patterning for a seamless design. Complement it with crisp white fixtures to contrast the dark colour palette.

Dark and stormy

In a small bathroom space, be fearless with the decor scheme and experiment with dark, bold colour.  Combine seductive black walls with good lighting, plenty of mirrors and chic, unfussy fittings. Anchor the look with monochrome tiles and a slight Art Deco edge.

Add a Tiled Backsplash

Although a mosaic may first bring to mind a kitchen backsplash, there’s no reason why it can’t be used in a bathroom design too. Make a statement with a fully mosaiced bathroom – floor to ceiling with a fun, creative theme. Enjoy the lively patterns and images for just about the most unique bathroom out there.

Quiet classicism

Quietly glamorous, laced with quality materials such as linen and marble – and carefully selected decorative antiques – create a timeless bathroom that speaks to your love of tranquility. Complement a free-standing tub with silver fittings, and an antique velvet armchair.

Soothing theatrics

The scenic wallpaper in this tastefully executed bathroom creates a theatrical atmosphere that’s as moody as it is marvelous. Pair a dark mahogany vanity with brass fittings and a brass-framed mirror in an organic oval for circular shape.
